Balik kampung

After three days here, we received news that my beloved grandma was admitted to the hospital, and things aren't looking too good. So tonight my mom, Zaid, and Aida will be on the only flight back to Miri. All very last minute, amidst tons of other things.

Thus, yours truly will be back in Malaysia from 27th May till 11th July. Back home, I don't think it'll be easy for me to be online, so the blog will probably go on a semi-hiatus. Will update if connection found.

Everyone please pray for my Grandma, and for our safe flight!

Finally back in Oman

Finally I'm back. YES!! The long hours on the flight wasn't fun, especially when I had three transits, in Newark, France, and Qatar. Dammit, those depressing hours suck the life out of me.

Today, finally went to the doctor to get my cough treated. Got nebulized and now I'm feeling so much better.

1 More day!! -- and Cayalah lu Dr. Mahathir!

ALOR STAR: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad announced Monday at 12.35pm that he is quitting Umno, citing a lack of confidence in the current leadership.

He said this during a talk here on Monday.

He has been critical of his appointed successor Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, blaming the current Umno president for the party’s disappointing performance in the 12th general election.

The ruling Barisan Nasional coalition, of which Umno is the largest component party, won the March 8 election with a simple majority, and saw four more states join Kelantan under Opposition rule.

Dr Mahathir urged other party members to quit too, as a way of pressuring Abdullah into vacating his post.

However, he advised those who do quit not to join any opposition party, adding they can all rejoin the party once there is a change in leadership.

Abdullah has so far refused all calls for him to step down, and said he would defend his presidency in the party polls in December.

It is so strange how we work sometimes.

Today, there was this RA organized event, pizza day, so they could spend time with the residents. However, most of us just came, grabbed a few slices, went out and eat outside instead. Strange.

Even the RA's thought it was odd. "We bought all these pizzas and they'd rather sit outside than eat with us, fine".

I didn't know what to say when she said that...

3 more days!! - and quick update

**QUICK UPDATE: Just found out my blog looks like shit in Mozilla Firefox. IE or Safari will somehow reduce the shitness.**

Ya Allah. I seriously cannot wait to get back to Oman. And Malaysia.

At this point I'm just counting days, got nothing better to do. Sick shitless of Vandy and haven't really got the time to blog anymore. Actually in all honesty I have TOO MUCH time to blog, it's just that there's nothing to blog about, really. Yes, I'm that ignorant. Shit, someone better guide me back to the real world! Dolah? Yes, you bro. Do drag me back in, please?

So, just to sum up the past few days:

1. Did A LOT of movings. All you Vandy-ers feel me ayy? I never want to see those decrepit red and green dollies NO MORE! And shame on those who packed up without boxes!! Loose, no matter heavy OR light items, drive me insanely mad bonkers crazzzyy!
2. Broke my laptop while doing all these movings. Left my bag outside then accidently drove over it. Now, that's a first for me. Never in my life thought I'd actually drove over my laptop. Cracked the screen, sent to ITS, forgot to pick it up before ITS closed on Friday, so had to wait till freakin Monday to pick it up.
3. While moving my stuff to Towers, I accidently locked myself out of my car. Left the keys inside. Called VUPD and they really came through! Excellent service!
4. I think the longer I stay in Nashville, the more money I'll spend. No matter on food, or on stuff. So I better get myself the hell out of here. Oh Sakinah, you know the RL luggage that you want, the big black one was actually $99 instead of $145. So guess who got it?

Also, I just find out (nothing exciting really), that Urban Outfitters, the store which goes out, and fits urbanites all over will open in Nashville, replacing the City Hall (next to Ru San's Sushi). I love and thank City Hall for all the amazing concerts, great intimate venue really, but since it's being replaced with UO, I don't mind at all.

So that's it, my "quick" update. Don't reckon anyone will read it really but who cares. I'll be gone for the Summer anyways.

Quick Post II: L' Arc En Ciel

Check them out. L' Arc En Ciel: Stay Away.
Stupid Video. Catchy song. Fahmi has been RAVING about this Japanese band since before I flew to the states. So, why not? Post sajeee.

WTF??

Why nobody update their blogs anymore? Is it because everybody dah ada life and I'm the one left without a life? Probably yes. Aaahh~

Also, most of my favorite blogs went private. Sad, sad time in the blogosphere.

And by popular request, a picture of Fatih at the Senior Commencement Dinner (oh yeah, I might blog on this wonderful event next time I'm working):

Nah, nak sangat gambar die. Ambik ni. Pegi main jauh2.

10 More days!!! - and a relationship reminder

Just a thought, I always wonder, what helps in making sure a long distance relationship stays healthy and happy?

I personally believe:
1) Kalau dah in a relationship, buat cara that you're in a relationship. Don't be TOO easy and flirt around. I cannot stand those who are in a relationship and they make their ways as if they're so single and available. Right Hanum? Someone who's taken turns you off right??

2) Communication is key, cliche'd but so true.

3) Think about the song from Enchanted "How does sheee knowww you love her?". Let her know that she's still the one. LOL LOL.

Ok, ok. Enough relationship talk. Since Sakinah will be flying back tomorrow I thought I'd write this to remind myself ;)
As I've learnt from my friends' experiences, long distance is hard, but if you make it through, YOU ARE THE BOMB, the SHIT BANG GIDI BANG BANG.

And next year, it's my turn.

Sorry for the constant picture updates lately. I deleted my friendster, where else am I gonna upload them right? Today was the Commencement (graduation) ceremony, it was my first time actually, and it was really really exciting listening to families cheering for their loved ones when they got on stage and finally got their degree.

Mak, those American mothers (and Malays thank you very much) were all dressed up, so you gotta go tempah baju for mine next year ok? Daddy, you as well, gotta go buy a sports coat, like the picture below. And I know you can cheer much much better than me.
Spotted: Victoria Beckham in the crowd. Her diva highness made us change our seats to somewhere more shaded. Lol, kidding kidding! We didn't want to be right under the hot sun because Sharol didn't want to be a shade darker.
Spotted: Ehem Ehem. These two, I have no idea, but everyone has their own speculations. If it's true or not, we will never know because like always, everyone are 'just friends'. But, seriously Syamir, why so lambat u made a move?? See, it's graduation day dah..
XOXO,
GGWell, this pic is here just because Hafiz is too dashingly good looking. And congrats to both Jurai and Sonic as well. Gonna miss them dearly. Where else am I going to borrow telur or garam or gula from?
Here's Ira and Mud. Fun people, and not forgetting best dressers in Vandy as well, these two.
Here they are, all the graduating seniors! Congratulations! You all make me proud with all the summa cum laudes, magnas, cum laudes, tau beta pi's (menyampah aku, may I borrow one TBP rantai for next year?), and special awards. WOW WOW WOW. Gempak siottt.
Again, another picture. This time of Fiqah. Her face is like "Ceh, Qayyum I have a degree now, you ada ke?". Congrats Fiqah.
I wanted to end the post right here, but this picture is just too precious. Spotted: The afro guy.
Guess that's it! Got tons of other pictures I would like to share but I guess this is good for now. Just so you know, every time I work, I'll start blogging cause my shifts are so damn boring. It takes up half of my time, good stuff.

Senior Farewell Party

So the time has come for us to celebrate the graduating seniors of Class of 2008! It really was bittersweet. And must I add it was an excellent event! The new MSAV and the whole batch really is a whole new breed of organization! Bravo!

Moving on, I won't go into detail on the actual event itself but let me just add that the theme this year is Hollywood Red Carpet Gala. Aii karambaa~! I was one of the appointed paparazzis of the night, following our senior celebrities from their entrance to the red carpet event, and also joined in with the cam-whoring-filled event.

One of the first to get out of their car rides and be interviewed at the entrance sans red carpet are Mr. Zul and Mr. Lan. Very dashing looks from both celebrity, and Mr. Zul actually won the Best Dressed Male Award that night, thanks to his funky fedora and pimpin style.

Now here are few of the female celebrities looking their best. Nabilah couldn't stand the glare from the many photographers, hence the closed eyes. Also in the pic is fellow celebrities living on the same floor as me. Sonic looking very Ellen Degeneres-esque, but sexier and Jurai looks hot in her white jacket. All sponsored by Micheal Ong.

Here's Miss Kak Ena, with a beautiful jubah specially imported from Dubai. The intricate beading on her jubah and her demure yet provocative hijab arrangement scored her the Best Dressed Female Award of the Night. Shoes by Chanel. Also pictured is fellow celebrity, Ms Fiqah with a sweet white blouse by Dolce and Gabbana. She glared my eyes with her white shine of elegance.

Fellow female paparazzi worth mentioning also tidak mahu kalah when it comes to dressing up! Check out those white boots on Fizah sponsored by Gucci! Bak kata Sakinah, sampai tua pun takkan lupa those white boots.

First to actually hit the red carpet is Mr. Dore, with a young and fresh outfit by John Varvatos. Skinny ties seems to be a hit of the night!

Here comes Ms Nabilah and Mr Aus, strutting down the red carpet like there's no tomorrow! Ms Nabilah looked remarkable with her turqoise ensemble, by Prada. Not forgetting, Mr Aus, looking sharp in a Gucci suit and jeans.

Ms Kak Raihan stopped the traffic tonight with this amazing black and white look! Ultimately sopan, yet she did not sacrifice the hot factor. Long dress by (man, I'm out of designer labels)... Burberry!

Now, ON TO THE PARTY!!! Here's your blogger, Q, and his super hot girlfriend, Sakinah! Mr Blogger went with more like a VMA red carpet instead of an Oscar red carpet, so he ended up with a blue Fred Perry shirt, white tie, white shoes, his usual vest, Dolah's jeans, red Wayfarers, and a red Tulip. Rock starrr babe. The sexy girl in the other hand wore a daring dress from Express which she got from the clearance section, which was a remarkable purchase. Looks amazing! She also debuted a new head scarf and a new necklace. Check out those shoes on her feet by Nine West!
The gedik bunch: Ms Fizah, Mr Sarol Model Of the Year, Ms Sakinah and Datin Zairin. Ms Fyzah wore a cute polka dot dress while Datin Zairin opted for a silky blue dress. Exquisite purchases, both from Selamanya 21! Sharol, our Mr Model of the Year, looking sleek and clean, very James Dean-esque.

Off course, it won't be complete without my  room mate, Mr Dols. Looking very macho in his Versace suit and John Varvatos green-black skinny tie. We're the only two who thinks it was too bright in the ballroom, so we looked extra sharp with our shades. Haircuts by Heads Up. Mr Dols also performed a great musical number "Can't take my eyes of you".
Here we have again Mr Sarol, Ms Nabilah... but LOOK! We have Eva Longoria with us tonight! A surprise guest indeed! She tore down the house when she came in the building. Eva lookin hot in a metallic top by Dolce and Gabbana!WHAT?! Another artist dropped by! Mr Cammoe from the famous local group Ruffedge. (Mr Cammoe told me he really wanted to be Justin Timberlake, but that went down the drain I guess).
AH! Ms Ira looking cute in a great number by Escada. She perfected the look with a borrowed Red Wayfarer, and a thin belt by Coach. Lookinn gooooddd...~~
Here you go, the freshmen girls. Well, the guys no need to put pics cause pretty much everyone came with a suit.
More freshmen action! Here' we have the upcoming female vocalist from the Rock band 'Paramore', Ms Delilah! Kept it simple with shirts and jeans, but spiced up her look with cool shades and enticing heels. Sakinah still lookin extremely sexy in her Express dress and Nine West shoes.YO YO! Fellow paparazzi, Mr Hanbali kept it simple in a white shirt and black ties, all by Kenneth Cole NY. Gotta keep it real, bro!
Another freshmen action! And most daring outfit of the night! Ms Jasmine, looking good in a purple dress by Fendi. Shoes also by Fendi.

So folks, there you have it, the highlights of the night! The event went well, and it was superb! GUESS WHAT? We got a last minute surprise, thanks to Mr Sharol Model of the Year! He scored both of us a campaign for Burberry. Check out the ad below! Adios~

Lewis House - The Living Quarters

So, a year in review. Well, not really, but for sure I'll give you the juicy scoops. As my older post had mentioned, this is actually my first venture into the world of shared living space. It has its ups and downs, but all in all it's all good. So, for the little-to-none non-Vandy visitors I might have, let me speedily guide you through Lewis House- the building which I gleefully resided for the past 2 semesters.

This sad, sad building is THE Lewis House. Man, considering the amount of money students had to cash in for a year here in Vanderbilt, I'd think this place should've been much, much better. 2nd picture shows Sakinah presenting the 'LEWIS' sign (proudly, I must add).

I lived on the 10th floor, apartment 7. It's 1007, notice the double-0 7? Agent Bond. Man that was lame, but it sounds friggin cool when I first noticed that. Lol, lame lame. Anyways, moving on, once you enter the apartment, you're greeted by three boomerangs (from Nik), symbolizing the three mates (Me, Hubab, Dolah). Throw us far apart, and even if we bug each other sometimes, we still fly back together. Wow, I seriously just came up with that. Impressive. Also greeting you will be a collective row of shoes, ranging from Adidas to FCUK. Yo, we be stylin' yo.

So, ladies and gentleman, I present you the living room! It actually is bigger than it looks in the picture. And yes, this is how the apartment is on an average day. Dolah hangs out here more than anyone else though, and if you knock on the door you'll be greeted with his sometimes overtly vicious "MASOOOKKKK!!!!". Lol, classic classic.

However, when these pictures were taken MSAV just had a big event and all the bekas2 makanan which was supposed to be returned a week ago was left to rot in the house. The house stank so bad that whole week, man. Bak kata Hubab, "YA ALLAH RUMAH NI BAU MACAM BABI!!!!". Oh yeah, don't worry we cleaned it though. I do have pictures of the whole gruesome, gut-wrenching cleaning session, filled with tears and vomit. They were just too graphic for public publishing.

And this folks, is the Kitchen. All red and mysterious. Well, actually I hated the pic, but wanted to show the kitchen. So I had to red-frickin-tint out that fucking vain guy out. Usually, we rotated on who cooks when, and usually it's a double treat dinner-cum-lunch. Everyone has their specialities, I'm gonna miss Dolah's Ayam kicap (yum! yum!) and merah, I think I'm good with Sup Ayam and my super pedas Ayam Black-pepper (well, I liked it. Not so sure bout the room mates though lol I kill them every time I cook my special pedas dishes), and Hubab... Hubab, he's the Chef. He cooks from Nasi kerabu to Nasi Ayam, but I especially enjoy his Ayam Lemak. Notice that we only cook ayam, greens are a rare in this household. Man, we tigers, we no rabbits, we eat no carrots all day.

This is a hobby of mine, which I got from my lovely mother Rohaya. She used to collect magnets wherever she goes, and that's what I did, plus much more. I collect magnets from places I've never visited as well, thanks to my friends who travel more than I do. Notice the Virgo magnet, that's an absolute favorite I got when I went to the Sex Museum in NYC.

This is the hallway, decorated with my Ghostbusters poster and Sharol's Stewie Family Guy poster. This is where we get our freak on. Dolah and I spend a lot of time pimpin ourselves up before going out. Looking good doesn't happen by magic, contrary to popular beliefs, it takes effort. Kidding! Kidding! LOL, enough vain-ness already, right next to the mirror is the bathroom.
This is Hubab's room, the door I mean. Let's see what he is up too. Hiiiiiii.....

And this private sanctuary is Dolah's and mine. I don't know, he sleeps here probably 10 times, he prefers the living room, in front of the tv set. Why ek dolah? You don't like me kah ;) ? I don't snore do I? (Right, only Hubab snores).
So there you have it. All summed into a single post, pictures and all. Off course there are plethora of other things but let's keep them behind closed doors. In a nutshell, it was a fun experience. Like I said, has its ups and downs, but overall if I have to go through it again, I'll probably go through it again.

Illaliqa'.

P/S- I'll be flying back in 2 weeks! Yippeee!!

Geram

How irresponsible it is to sign up for work, and not showing up for it? VERY.

God, some people just never learn.

Song of the moment: Cobrastyle - Teddy Bears

My style is de bomb didibomb dideng dideng digidigi~

And for those who prefer a touch of electric to the song, here's a cover by Robyn. Awesome shit. Danceable all night long!
